FiRST TRACkS AT SnoWMASS

Skiers and riders dream of being the first down runs of champagne powder or newly groomed corduroy, and the free Snowmass First Tracks program makes it possible. Reserve your chance to start the day off right and accompany patrollers and/or instructors on the first run of the day.

When: Wednesdays & Fridays beginning December 21

Time: 8:00am

Where: Meet at the bottom of the Village Express lift

Cost: FREE with the purchase of a lift ticket or Ski Pass. Ages 11 and up.

MounTAin-oRiEnTATion TouR

If over 3,000 acres of terrain sounds delightfully daunting, sign up for a free mountain-orientation tour. Knowledgeable local guides show you the lay of the land, along with the secret spots and stashes during this free 1.5 to 2-hour guided mountain tour. Space is limited.

ACES WinTER Wild ThingS

Parents and children are encouraged to check out this free interactive nature program that teaches fascinating facts and habits about local mountain critters and their winter environment.

When: Wednesdays & Fridays beginning early January

Time: 11:45am and 2:30pm

ACES SnoWShoE TouR

Explore the exquisite natural beauty of Snowmass on a guided, 2-hour snowshoe tour with an Aspen Center for Environmental Studies (ACES) naturalist. This leisurely tour on gentle terrain delves into the animals and habitats of Snowmass winter forests, meadows and alpine landscapes.

When: Daily beginning December 12

Time: 10:00am and 1:00pm

Where: Meet at the top of the Elk Camp Gondola

ACES Ski/SnoWboARd TouR Have you ever paused to wonder about the natural world surrounding the Snowmass slopes? Take a free run with an ACES naturalist and learn about the Elk Camp winter environment ranging from the mysteries of the snowpack to the secrets of how local animals such as porcupines and weasels survive Snowmass winters.

When: Daily beginning mid-December

Time: 11:00am and 1:00pm

Where: Meet at Wapiti Wildlife Center at the top of the Elk Camp lift

PubliC nASTAR RACES

Feel the need for speed? Want to compare best times with your friends? Head up to the public on-mountain NASTAR race course where souvenir pins are awarded for first through third places.

When: Mondays, Tuesdays, Fridays & Saturdays

Time: 11:00am-2:00pm. Call ahead for closures due to private races and weather

SnoWMASS CroSS-CounTRy Ski & SnoWShoE CenTER

Winding across pristine winter meadows and up into hushed forests of pine and aspen, this full-service ski and snowshoe center is at the heart of the Aspen/Snowmass Nordic trail system. Located on the Snowmass Golf Course, the center offers a wide range of programs, lessons and rentals, access to a variety of terrain and a comfortable indoor meeting place. Check out the guided Full Moon Tours (1/6 and 2/5) plus the Owl Creek Chase race (2/12).

SnoWMobilE TouRS

Looking for adventure beyond the slopes? Check out the magnificent winter backcountry in Snowmass, the Maroon Bells or above Lenado on a guided snowmobile tour. Trips are between two and four hours with lunch provided for longer tours. Individual daily rentals are available at some locations.

APRèS Ski in SnoWMASS When the lifts close down, Snowmass lights up with après-ski entertainment. Swap out your snow gear and enjoy late afternoon family activities, live music, and après ski specials inside and on the sunny decks of over two dozen Snowmass restaurants and bars, including several new base village restaurants.

Give your child a birthday celebration to remember! Take a snowcat ride to the Burlingame Cabin for cupcakes and ice cream. Snowcat holds up to 13 people and the birthday child gets to ride up front with the driver! Other menu options and/or entertainment available for an additional fee.

AndERSon RanCh ARTS CenTER

One of the amazing assets in Snowmass Village, Anderson Ranch is a cultural hotbed and home to one of the most respected visual arts programs in the country. The renowned 46-year-old organization is located on a beautiful 5 acre historic mountain ranch and offers yearround art education through workshops, artists’ residencies, exhibitions, public events, artists’ lectures and fine art collectible prints. Take a self-guided tour through the studios, meet the artists, and browse the ArtWorks store and gallery showcasing works of regional, national and international artists. Public events are free and open to the public and are offered throughout the winter.

ThE SnoWMASS VillAgE RECREATion CenTER

This spectacular one-of-a-kind facility provides 18,000 square feet of fun and fitness. The Snowmass Village Recreation Center offers the only outdoor heated saline pools in the valley, state-of-the-art cardio machines, weight room, Pilates studio, group exercise studio, gymnasium, climbing wall and bouldering cave. You can also take a group fitness class, like yoga, or a personal training session, play basketball in the gymnasium or come soak in the stunning views from the unique yearround pools. Whether you are in town for a day, a week or year round, the Snowmass Village Recreation Center has something for everyone!

SnoWMASS ChAPEl WoRShiP SERViCE

The Snowmass Chapel is one of Snowmass’ beautiful landmarks, hosting a non-denominational service on Sunday mornings at 9:00am. St Mary’s Church offers a Catholic mass at 5:00pm Sunday evenings. An updated schedule of services is available on www.snowmasschapel.org or by calling 970.923.6192.

An on-mountain worship service is offered every Sunday at noon beginning January 8, 2012 outside of gwen’s high Alpine restaurant.

ChAllEngE ASPEn

Challenge Aspen provides recreational and cultural experiences year round for anyone with a physical or cognitive disability. In the winter, private adaptive ski lessons and snowboard lessons are available daily. Daily lesson prices include lesson, lift ticket and equipment rental. Trained ski/snowboard buddies, guides for the visually impaired and additional winter activities, including multi-day camps and adaptive alpine skiing clinics are also available.

Volunteer opportunities are available, please call for details.
